Job Description

We are looking for an Environmental Compliance Manager to join our team. Seattle Iron & Metals Corp. (SIM) has operated for over 100 years in the Seattle area. We are a leader of ferrous and nonferrous metals recycling in the Pacific Northwest. We utilize state-of-the-art equipment and practices to process scrap into raw materials ready for mills and foundries globally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform required daily, monthly, and annual environmental compliance inspections of our Seattle facilities
  • Update and maintain SIM’s environmental policies such as SWPPPs, SPCCs, Solid Waste Plans, etc.
  • Monitor and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
  • Conduct routine and non-routine sampling of water, air, and solids
  • Coordinate with local and federal agencies, as well as vendors and consultants, to ensure SIM meets compliance requirements
  • Assist with maintenance of environmental safeguards and systems
  • Work across operational departments to further environmental initiatives and objectives

Qualifications

  • College degree in relevant field is preferred but not required.
  • Strong people skills with an outgoing, friendly, positive attitude.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to handle multiple competing tasks and priorities, and perform quality work efficiently.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion, walk frequently on uneven terrain, occasional climbing of ladders, etc.
  • Able to work required hours, which may include weekends and holidays.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus, but not required.
