Job Title: Chief Engineer

Location: Full-Service Hotel – Cherry Hill Area, NJ

Job Type: Full-Time-Onsite

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance and engineering operations of our full-service hotel in Mount Laurel, NJ . This role is responsible for ensuring the hotel’s physical infrastructure, mechanical systems, and safety protocols are maintained at the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hotel engineering, facilities management, and team leadership .

Key Responsibilities:Maintenance & Engineering Operations:

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and longevity of hotel assets.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding building codes, fire safety, and environmental standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships for outsourced maintenance and repair services.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment performance .

Team Leadership & Training:

  • Lead and supervise the engineering team , providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and teamwork within the department.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to ensure alignment with hotel goals and operational standards.
  • Develop and implement training programs for engineering staff to enhance skills and knowledge.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all safety protocols and emergency procedures are in place and regularly updated.
  • Conduct fire drills and safety training for hotel staff.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, fire codes, and Hilton brand standards .
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of security systems to protect guests and staff.

Budget & Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the engineering department budget , ensuring cost-effective solutions for maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor energy consumption and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Oversee capital improvement projects , ensuring timely completion within budget.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to secure the best rates for services and equipment.

Technology & Systems Management:

  • Utilize hotel management software to track maintenance schedules, guest requests, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure proper handling of billing, payments, and financial transactions related to engineering operations.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and innovations in hotel engineering to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems .
  • Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams .
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment .
  • Proficiency in engineering software and maintenance tracking systems .
