Matern Staffing is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Warehouse Operations for our client, supporting the efficient and high-volume operations of retail stores in the Greater Fredericksburg, VA area.

This role oversees the integration of warehouse management and transportation logistics to ensure efficiency and alignment with production and distribution goals. The Director will address operational challenges, drive process improvements and manage areas like auctions and supply procurement. This position is key to fostering a high-performance environment that supports smooth product movement and operational excellence.

This is a direct hire position.

Salary: $65,000-$75,000/yr

Schedule: The role typically involves a standard 40-hour workweek, but may require flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and implement strategic plans for warehouse and transportation operations while leading and mentoring staff to achieve performance objectives.
• Oversee store pickups and supply replenishments to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods.
• Establish and refine workflows, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure adherence to safety regulations and building compliance requirements.
• Analyze operational data, prepare reports, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Maximize product revenue, oversee procurement of warehouse and store supplies, and ensure operations stay within budget.
• Promote a culture of safety, ensuring all operations comply with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
• Work closely with operations, sales, distribution, and purchasing teams to drive business success.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in warehouse operations, including 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control, logistics processes, and distribution methods.
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and lead high-performing teams while optimizing warehouse workflows.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and drive operational efficiency.
• Experience with warehouse automation, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and process optimization initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills, experience using metrics for decision-making, and budget management expertise.
• Experience managing transportation operations.
• Proven ability to implement lean practices, drive cost savings, and innovate within multi-site, retail distribution environments.
