TRA is hiring for a full time (1.0 FTE) Certified Physician Assistant to directly support our Interventional Radiology team. In this specialized role the Physician Assistant will join a dedicated team of IR providers who are committed to keeping patient care as its central focus. Role: Physician Assistant – Interventional Radiology
Location: Multiple sites across Pierce and South King County with mileage reimbursement for qualified travel between facilities
Schedule: Standard Hours - 7:30AM – 5:30PM
This team works in support of local hospitals as well as our outpatient clinics and operates 365 days per year. Applicants for this position are expected to have flexibility to work 10 hour shifts and some weekends and holidays. You will work alongside this cohesive team in order to fulfill the IR PA team coverage responsibilities.
Pay: $127,119.00 - $155,303.00 per year based on relevant experience, skills, and abilities. This role is also eligible for additional annual bonuses based on performance and reviews.

Job Summary:
The Physician Associate will provide high-quality procedural and patient care services under the supervision of a radiologist in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This position includes both weekdays and at least one weekend day and may require reimbursed same-day travel between TRA and Diagnostic Imaging NW sites as well as local hospitals, including but not limited to King, Pierce, and Thurston counties.
The Physician Associate will perform image-guided needle procedures (e.g., arthrograms) and barium fluoroscopy exams (e.g., upper GI studies, esophagrams, etc.), as well as assist with related patient management tasks. The role requires flexibility, professionalism, and strong procedural competence to support smooth operations across multiple facilities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Establishes and maintains strong, productive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team member to coordinate patient care.
- Performs comprehensive physical examinations; diagnoses and treats patients; develops and carries out treatment plans under the supervision of a physician.
- Conducts pre-procedure evaluations, obtains informed consents, and provides post-procedure follow-up care as appropriate.
- Performs and assists with fluoroscopic and needle-based procedures, which may include but not limited to arthrograms, upper and lower fluoroscopic GI studies, fluoroscopic urologic studies, biopsies, drain manipulations and exchanges, feeding tube exchanges, and ultrasound-guided procedures. Responsibilities in this area may expand over time based on departmental needs and the provider’s demonstrated skills and competencies.
- Supports radiologists in ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered procedural workflows.
- Provides essential tasks to ensure a steady workflow, including consultations, follow-up visits, and coordination of outpatient care.
- Participates in procedural scheduling coordination across multiple sites, maintaining communication with radiologists and support staff.
- Documents and completes procedure-related notes accurately and in compliance with industry, TRA and hospital standards.
- Actively participates in the growth, development, and optimization of the clinic-based practice.
- Expected to work a schedule that includes at least one weekend day coverage and additional weekday shifts, generally totaling four 10-hour days per week. Reimbursed travel between TRA and DINW sites and hospitals may be necessary to support daily coverage, with regular time scheduled in Olympia.
- May assist and support physicians in surgical or interventional procedures within the clinic setting.
- May order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, as appropriate.
- Participates in APP and departmental meetings, contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Checks work email daily and responds promptly to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Work Experience:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited institution
- Current Washington licensure as a Physician Assistant. This position requires a licensure to practice in the state of Washington
- Current BLS & ACLS certification required
Job Knowledge/Skills
- Experience with radiologic or procedural medicine preferred (e.g., interventional radiology, fluoroscopy, or orthopedics).
- Strong procedural competence and interest in performing needle-based and fluoroscopic studies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and nursing staff.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a dynamic, multi-site schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
Physical Requirements
Work is classified as moderate in physical requirements. Must be able to assist in supporting patients of varying weight. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Also requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment as necessary.
Mental Requirements
Work requires high attention to detail and the ability to handle mentally stressful situations. The ability to maintain high level of sensitivity towards confidential information is also required.
Working/Environmental Conditions
Work environment consists of normal clinical inpatient and outpatient working conditions. There may be exposure to communicable diseases. There will be limited exposure to ionizing radiation.
