About the Role:

Stanford University is seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Maintenance Technician to support their onsite facilities operations. You’ll be working in a range of environments — from offices to labs — and must have hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial HVAC systems. If you're a reliable tradesperson with a strong work ethic, this could lead to long-term opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work across diverse environments (offices, labs, food prep/storage, libraries).
  • Support with complex controls and instrumentation for HVAC systems.
  • Carry out electrical work related to HVAC (up to 480V), including replacing motors, fuses, contactors, and transformers.
  • Complete plumbing work connected to HVAC systems (cutting, soldering, brazing, pipefitting).
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance per schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with procurement of parts.
  • Ensure all work complies with building codes, industry standards, and safety protocols.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 4–7 years of HVAC experience or equivalent education and training (e.g., completion of a four-year apprenticeship or similar).
  • EPA Certification and/or Universal Technician Certification (required).
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License (required).
  • Strong proficiency with HVAC tools and ability to read blueprints, prints, and sketches.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain excellent safety practices.

Ideal Candidate Will Be:

  • Technically skilled with a background in commercial or industrial HVAC.
  • Dependable and committed to high-quality, consistent work.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced university setting with multiple facility types.
  • Safety-minded with great attention to detail.
