Job Title: Building Consultant – Insurance Industry

Location: Tri-state Area

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced individual to join our team in the building consulting industry. The ideal candidate will provide expert consultation on building structures, damage assessments, and repair recommendations for insurance claims. As a Building Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in helping insurers evaluate property damage, identify risks, and determine appropriate restoration and rebuilding measures to ensure accurate claim settlements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough building inspections and assessments for various property types, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
  • Review and analyze structural damage, building codes, and potential risks to prepare accurate damage reports for insurance claims.
  • Collaborate with insurance adjusters, Company adjusters, and other stakeholders to assess claims, verify damage, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Develop comprehensive repair cost estimates, timelines, and scopes of work, leveraging knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and market pricing.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, local regulations, and safety standards in all evaluations and recommendations.
  • Review blueprints, architectural designs, and construction plans for to assess the viability of repairs or rebuilds.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, building materials, construction methodologies, and legal regulations affecting property and casualty claims.

Qualifications (Preferred, but not Required):

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Estimating or a related field.
  • OSHA 10 is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction, building consulting, or property claims, with a focus on the insurance industry.
  • Experience in evaluating building damages and preparing cost estimates for repairs and rebuilds.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple claims simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain technical details to non-experts.
  • Proficient in using industry software (e.g., Xactimate, Symbility, or other estimating software) and Microsoft Office Suite. (preferred, but not required)
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all reports and assessments.
  • Ability to travel as needed for on-site inspections and meetings.
