YPIE partners with students to ensure they are ready for, enroll in, and complete college.

JOB MISSION
The YPIE programs are focused on preparing students with the academic and life skills needed for college success. The more ready students are for college, the higher the likelihood they’ll succeed. YPIE is seeking Teaching Assistants to help students learn key academic skills that will prepare them for college success. This part time role will be based in Jersey City, NJ.

RESPONSIBILITIES & RESULTS  
Afterschool Instruction (approx 3:00 - 6:00 pm)
  • Teach/tutor afterschool in the following areas:
    • Academic Teaching: Support daily tutoring sessions to ensure students improve their academic skills in core academic subject areas.
    • Career Major: Support one or more career-pathway programs such as finance, healthcare, or debate (“YPIE Majors”) with the goal of each student submitting to an external competition or partnership. 
    • Additional Instruction: Plan and execute life skills lessons, special events, electives, team building activities, and additional interventions.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
To be eligible for consideration:
  • Have some experience tutoring or teaching high school age students, with interest in gaining additional experience in doing so. 
  • Experience with and commitment to ensuring equity for a diverse population of students
  • Proven organizational and program tracking skills

JOB DETAILS
This position is based in-person in Jersey City, NJ, on the campus of Saint Peter’s University. The position is part-time (up to 15 hours weekly) for 32 weeks of the year (October - June). Payment is $18 hourly and on an at-will basis.
