Job Title: Tax Manager

Location: Winston – Salem, NC

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead our organization’s tax planning, compliance, and reporting functions. This role is responsible for ensuring all tax obligations are met accurately and on time, while identifying opportunities for tax savings and process improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of domestic tax regulations, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to managing tax risks and strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review tax projections for individuals and businesses to support year-round tax planning strategies.
• Review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
• Review information returns (Forms 1099, 1098, etc.) and payroll tax filings to ensure timely and accurate compliance.
• Review accounting records, including transaction entries, reconciled bank and credit card accounts, and workpapers supporting general ledger account balances.
• Review and analyze client depreciation schedules, ensuring correct asset classification and appropriate depreciation methods are applied.
• Understand and apply current tax rules and accounting standards to accurately prepare or review tax provisions.
• Respond to IRS and state agency tax notices, assisting clients in resolving tax issues effectively.
• Apply knowledge from tax form instructions, accounting guides, CPE training, webinars, and on-the-job learning to accounting and tax projects.
• Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance on technical issues and fostering professional development.
• Collaborate with team members and clients to provide high-quality service and ensure deadlines are met.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an active CPA license.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant tax experience in a public accounting firm
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders.
• High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
