Job Description

Job Title: Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Peoria, IL

Shift: Rotating

Salary Range: $39.00 - $51.00

Job Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures in General, OB/GYN, and Vascular imaging. This role ensures accurate imaging, proper documentation, and compliance with safety standards. The position may involve Level 1 trauma center experience and is critical in supporting patient care and assisting physicians in diagnosis. Travel techs may have limitations on procedure responsibilities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including General, OB/GYN, and Vascular studies.
  • Ensure proper patient preparation and positioning for optimal imaging quality.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment including GE-9, GE-10, and PARKS Unetix systems.
  • Utilize electronic medical record systems, such as EPIC and McKesson, for documentation and patient charting.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide quality patient care.
  • Maintain patient safety, confidentiality, and compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Assist with training new staff and provide support for less experienced technicians when needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and departmental meetings.
  • Follow established protocols for vascular training and procedures, particularly in off-shift or outpatient settings.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of ultrasound experience preferred; 3–4 years considered for experience at a Level 1 trauma center.
  • Level 1 trauma center experience required; experience at a busier Level 2 trauma center considered.
  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment and perform diagnostic studies with accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient care skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced clinical environments.

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or relevant field.
  • Additional training in vascular imaging highly preferred.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Required:
  • ARDMS: RVT, RDMS (AB, OB/GYN), PS for pediatric techs
  • ARRT: RT(S), RT(VS)
  • CCI: RVS
  • RVT, RT(VS), or CCI (RVS) required for off-shift and outpatient site postings.
  • Current state licensure as applicable.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $39.00 - $51.00 per hour
  • Sign-On Bonus: $20,000 with a 3-year commitment
  • Relocation Bonus: Discussed during interview on a case-by-case basis
