Senior Composite Manufacturing Engineer

$140,000 - £200,000

Hawthorne, CA

We are working with an innovative and rapidly growing company that is transforming the future of energy. This pioneering organization specializes in advanced space-based solar energy solutions, harnessing the power of sunlight from space to deliver clean, sustainable energy to Earth—24/7.

With a focus on reducing global reliance on traditional energy sources, this company is dedicated to creating a solar-powered future. They are now seeking talented professionals to join their dynamic team and contribute to the development of world-changing projects at the intersection of space exploration and renewable energy. If you're passionate about working on groundbreaking solutions in the energy sector, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization poised for global impact.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Composites Manufacturing Engineer to help bring space-ready composite structures to life. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in bridging the gap between design theory and production reality. You’ll be responsible for rapidly iterating and prototyping, working directly with composites to create flight-ready deployable structures for our spacecraft. If you thrive in an environment where speed, iteration, and attention to detail are key, this is an exciting opportunity to drive the development of innovative manufacturing processes for space applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine composite manufacturing and prototyping processes that support fast iterations.
  • Be actively involved in hands-on production, performing layups and prototyping new ideas quickly.
  • Build space-ready deployable composite structures, starting with our initial spacecraft and continuing with future missions.
  • Create scalable, production-ready processes to manufacture thousands of deployable reflectors for upcoming spacecraft.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in composite manufacturing, particularly with thin structures or materials designed for space or other innovative applications.
  • Strong hands-on skills, with great attention to detail in composite work.
  • Proven track record of developing production processes from the ground up, including implementing design improvements for manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with the design and production of deployable structures and solar sails.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a focus on iteration and refinement.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of base-policy costs covered.
  • Access to HSA, FSA, 401K, and commuter benefits.
  • Unlimited paid time off, with a mandatory two-week minimum use per year.
  • Daily healthy lunches provided.
  • A compensation and benefits plan designed to reward our employees and support their families generously.

Equal Opportunity Employer

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Employment decisions are based on merit, qualifications, and business needs, without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or any other legally protected status.
