Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our organization’s safety programs and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. This role will focus on developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs in compliance with federal (OSHA) and state (Cal/OSHA) regulations. This role ensures that workplace environments, practices, and policies minimize risk to employees, contractors, and visitors. The Safety Manager will regularly inspect operations across various sites within the state, providing training and guidance to ensure compliance and the cultivation of a strong safety culture.

Compensation Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually

About the Position:

  • Ensure full compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations.
  • Monitor and interpret changes to federal and state safety laws and regulations, updating company policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs, including Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP), Hazard Communication, and Emergency Action Plans.
  • Conduct and document Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Risk Assessments.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits at various job sites across California to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Recommend corrective actions and verify resolution of safety violations or deficiencies.
  • Develop and conduct safety training sessions, including OSHA 10/30-hour certification courses, toolbox talks, and site-specific safety orientations.
  • Work with the Learning & Development department to ensure that all training records and certifications are current and properly documented.
  • Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain OSHA and Cal/OSHA-required documentation and reports, including the OSHA 300 log.
  • Promote a culture of safety by engaging employees at all levels, encouraging proactive identification of hazards, and reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with department heads and field supervisors to reinforce safety accountability and awareness.
  • Travel throughout the state of California to perform on-site inspections, attend meetings, and oversee safety operations at multiple facilities or project sites.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Manager or in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA standards and compliance procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and reporting tools.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or OSHA 30-Hour or Trainer Authorization preferred
  • Familiarity with risk management and emergency preparedness strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Ability to work independently and travel frequently within the state.
