Job Title: Ripening Supervisor

Reports to: Ripening Manager

Job Purpose:

The Ripening Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the ripening operations within the warehouse, ensuring that all produce meets quality and customer standards. This role involves closely monitoring ripening processes, coordinating with internal teams and vendors, and maintaining compliance with WCD procedures to optimize product quality and fulfillment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing the continuous ripening cycle to meet demand while maintaining product quality and shelf-life.
• Conduct inbound inspections to ensure products meet ripening criteria before processing.
• Monitor and adjust temperature, humidity, and airflow settings in ripening rooms to ensure optimal conditions.
• Communicate with internal teams, vendors, and distribution centers regarding product readiness, inventory levels, and any anticipated changes in supply or demand.
• Ensure proper sanitation and hygiene protocols are followed in ripening areas.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining preventive maintenance programs for ripening rooms and equipment.
• Track and document customer feedback, identifying areas for improvement and corrective action as needed.
• Train and supervise ripening team members, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Skills and Abilities:

• Functional knowledge of:
• Banana ripening processes and quality standards
• Ripening techniques for various fruits
• Understanding of supply chain operations related to perishable goods
• Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities

Education and/or Experience:

• Experience in warehouse, distribution, or food production environments preferred
• Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
• Must be able to move throughout the warehouse, accessing different areas as needed
• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including cold storage areas
• Must be comfortable working around heavy machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks in a fast-paced setting

This role is critical in ensuring the smooth and efficient ripening of products, maintaining quality, and supporting the overall success of the distribution center.
