The Retail Specialist serves as a brand ambassador and business driver for DL1961 within key department store accounts, including Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue. This role blends strategic retail management with hands-on visual merchandising , ensuring that every door reflects DL1961’s identity and standards of excellence.

You will work closely with Account Executives, store management, and the DL1961 Creative and Visual/Retail/Sales teams to maximize sell-through, optimize floor presence, and deliver an inspiring in-store experience that captures the essence of the brand.

This role is a hybrid between travel and in-office presence. Hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5:30PM.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Business Development & Sales

• Drive department store business by building and nurturing strong partnerships with store leadership and sales associates.
• Engage customers directly on the selling floor, actively selling DL1961 products to meet or exceed goals.
• Analyze weekly sales reports to identify trends and opportunities; provide actionable insights to internal teams through concise weekly recaps.
• Develop territory business plans, including travel schedules and visit cadence aligned with seasonal priorities.

Brand Presentation & Visual Merchandising

• Ensure DL1961 is represented to the highest standard on the selling floor through exceptional visual merchandising and storytelling.
• Review DL1961 assets (lookbooks, line sheets, best sellers, focus styles) to inform product placement and display.
• Execute and refresh floor sets, mannequin styling, table displays, and color stories in alignment with seasonal collections.
• Partner with the Creative and Visual teams on signage, labeling, and in-store collateral to ensure consistency and impact.
• Source and arrange soft elements (props, décor, and brand accents) to enhance the shop environment and reinforce brand identity.
• Present floor plans and intended changes to Account Executives and leadership for review and feedback.

Training & Engagement

• Lead quarterly product knowledge seminars and style clinics to educate and motivate store associates.
• Develop and implement creative training initiatives, contests, and events to boost engagement and sales performance.
• Act as the face of DL1961 on the selling floor, inspiring teams through passion, product expertise, and brand storytelling.

Collaboration & Communication

• Serve as the liaison between DL1961 and assigned accounts, maintaining clear, consistent communication with Account Executives and internal teams.
• Participate in key meetings with leadership, including brand identity alignment, visual concept presentations, and post-refurbishment reviews.
• Provide feedback from the field to inform product development, inventory flow, and future assortments.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in retail, department store, or visual merchandising roles (fashion industry experience strongly preferred).
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Proven ability to influence, motivate, and lead teams within a retail environment.
• Strong sense of visual style and attention to detail in merchandising execution.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to shifting priorities.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 80% of the time as required for this role.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
