Job Description

Position Overview:

The General Manager (“GM”) is responsible for providing strategic direction for the organization, maintaining day-to-day store operations, and driving company desired results. The GM oversees the daily operation of the retail store and monitors the management of all staff of the store. The GM also works with corporate support and accounting department to ensure sound recordkeeping and compliance with local and state regulations. Priorities include implementing organizational policies, hiring and supervising, maintaining statistical reports on daily operations, and representing the company culture and vision to elected officials, law enforcement, the media, and the general public.

Responsibilities include:

● Ensure full compliance with all applicable local and state statutes, rules and regulations; and any applicable federal statutes such as labor laws

● Implement retail store operating policies and procedures.

● Maintain a safe environment for all employees and customers

● Implement plans of action as required to ensure the optimal operation of the facility

● Screen, interview and hire all applicants for retail store (in concert with corporate Human Resources when applicable)

● Oversee the screening, interviewing, and hiring of store staff

● Communicate will all staff to ensure effective employee relations and proper labor practices

● Continuously evaluate the company’s retail sales training program and work with management to improve the program as needed

● Implement an effective training program for employees in all aspects of customer service and company products

● Ensure ongoing training of staff related to common medical conditions and company products that may be beneficial for certain ailments

● Ensure ongoing training of staff related to all company cannabis derived products, their effects and various consumption methods

● Ensure ongoing training of staff as it relates to company loyalty/rewards program

● Consult with VP of Finance to manage budget and expenses, ensuring sound recordkeeping and fiscal compliance

● Create and manage all store staffing schedules

● Create, run, and analyze management reports and performance metrics to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient operations; document financial, inventory and sales trends; maintain sales and purchasing reports

● Manage and maintain the point-of-sale (POS) system and Inventory Management software; ensure systems meet all operations, reporting, and compliance requirements; troubleshoot system and software issues as needed

● Perform any and all necessary duties to maintain the successful, secure and compliant operation of the facility

Requirements:

● Must be at least 21 years of age

● Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related experience

● 5 years experience in retail and customer service

● 3 years experience in retail management

● Excellent communication skills

● Advanced math and computer skills

● Passion to serve people with debilitating conditions

● Must comply with the Ma. CCC hiring guidelines

Preferred Skills & Abilities:

● Prior experience within the cannabis industry

● Three (3) years experience in a retail General Manager role

● Experience in restricted access retail venues

● Interest and aptitude for the healing arts
