Our Gaming Client has a Research Moderator opportunity!

Job Title: Moderator Contractor – User Research & Playtest Support

Length: 6 plus month contract on W2

Location: LA hybrid

Rate: $41-$54 an hour on W2

About the Role

As a Moderator Contractor, you will be part of a cross-functional research and insights team focused on delivering actionable feedback through user testing and playtest moderation. You’ll collaborate closely with researchers and product teams to support usability studies, playtests, and group discussions. Your work will help ensure that new features and experiences are evaluated effectively, with player feedback clearly captured and communicated.

This role involves hands-on support for research operations, including test setup, participant facilitation, and data management. You’ll contribute to the development of research reports and help maintain smooth execution of user studies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup of test and survey designs for playtests
  • Translate research requirements into participant recruitment criteria and data pulls
  • Moderate usability studies and playtests, observe participants, take notes, and compile observations
  • Support researchers in creating clear, digestible research reports
  • Facilitate group discussions with players to gather qualitative insights
  • Coordinate logistics for research studies, including scheduling, recruiting, and day-of support
  • Manage post-session clean-up and data organization

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of experience in user research or group moderation
  • Familiarity with the systems and terminology used in a popular multiplayer online game
  • Experience with survey platforms such as Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or QuestionPro
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to work in-person at the Los Angeles office

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Psychology, Anthropology, Cognitive Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, or a related field
  • Experience in the video game industry
  • Understanding of game design principles and development cycles
  • Experience running playtests or live research sessions
  • Familiarity with tools such as Qualtrics, Q, Sawtooth, or Tableau
