Psychiatric RN Director Massachusetts

Salary Range: $150,000 $185,000

An exceptional opportunity is available for a strong nursing leader to step into the role of Psychiatric RN Director at a respected Massachusetts hospital. This position is ideal for a results-driven, clinically skilled nurse leader with a proven background in psychiatric services and a passion for advancing behavioral health care standards.

Position Overview:
The Psych RN Director will oversee all aspects of psychiatric nursing operations within the hospital, providing leadership and direction to ensure safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, this leader will take ownership of departmental performance, staffing, compliance, and resource management, with 24/7 accountability for assigned units.

This role requires a hands-on, visible leader who can mentor and develop nursing teams, foster collaboration across disciplines, and implement best practices that align with hospital goals and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for psychiatric nursing units

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation requirements

  • Promote staff development, engagement, and clinical excellence

  • Manage departmental budgets, staffing, and resource allocation effectively

  • Serve as a role model and advocate for professional nursing practice

Qualifications:

  • Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of Massachusetts (or eligibility)

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Masters in Nursing or related healthcare field preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of psychiatric nursing experience in an acute hospital setting (required)

  • At least 2 years of progressive leadership experience as a Manager or Director in a hospital environment

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • CPR certification required
