Tech Valley Talent (TVT) has a great long-term role for a Project Manager with energy and research experience.

DURATION : 24 Months

LOCATION : Remote but must work EST time

NO third parties – direct consultant applicants only

The project manager will support Client's Energy Social Science Research Program (E-SSRP) and related policy and analysis projects. This position will also support energy analysis activities, such as state energy planning.

Qualifications

• 3-6 Years Has well developed understanding of relevant technical principles and their application to a program area. Develops/formulates Deployment issues, problems and needs in at least one technical area. Has acknowledged expertise at conceptual level of technical skills and knowledge in at least one program area. Has basic understanding of State energy/environmental economic development issues.
• 3-6 Years Has developed and managed projects with little specific direction. Develops new projects and co-funding sources with own initiative. Carried out development of several projects through competitive solicitation phase that may or may not result from own initiative. Has provided ideas and rationale for program development in at least one technical area.
• 3-6 Years Has demonstrated ability to implement projects in a timely manner. Demonstrates the capability to manage all aspects of on-going projects with no supervision. Is able to prioritize workload with other responsibilities. Effectively discharges general technical and project management assignments in a timely manner. Demonstrates strategic thinking connected to the organization’s goals.
• 3-6 Years Has demonstrated ability to effectively head working groups or program teams. Provides guidance to junior staff when appropriate and can supervise the day-to-day work of interns. Has full confidence of peers and superiors. People skills have developed to show leadership and an ability to motivate others.
• 3-6 Years Has demonstrated ability to produce both written material and verbal presentations that are direct, recognize and focus on issues, are both comprehensive and concise and require editing only in most sensitive and complex areas. Is able to negotiate effectively with contractors and interface effectively with customers and other outside contacts. Has demonstrated ability to prepare and present papers at professional meetings, seminars and conferences.
• Experience and/or familiarity with a range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, ranging from ethnography to socio-demographics and modeling.
• Experience identifying and working with socio-demographic, economic, housing, transportation, and energy systems data to analyze and represent household experiences in areas such as energy affordability
• Substantial familiarity with the state of the science in key areas such as energy justice, socio-technical transition, community-based research, energy affordability, and deep decarbonization
• Experience managing research contracts and/or research grants
• Experience working with governance institutions, non-governmental groups, community-based organizations, and research institutions in the context of energy, climate, or environmental issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage research projects supported by the E-SSRP, including solicitations, scoping, contracting, and project oversight
• Compile household energy data and socio-demographic data from a variety of sources in user-friendly formats, and analyze data as needed (e.g., to advance the development of energy affordability metrics)
• Participate in the development of E-SSRP activities, including support for workshops and other events, outreach, and network building
• Support policy development and policy analysis by conducting in-house research and analysis of key issues and topics
• Foster multi-stakeholder collaboration among client teams, government agencies, external researchers, and community organizations
• Maintain current awareness of relevant peer research programs, research activities, and publications
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned that contribute toward the key outcomes and goals of the policy team.
