Project Engineer required by $45m+ General Contractor specializing in Interior fit out construction projects

Our client is a growing $45m + General Contractor specializing in interior upgrade and tenant improvement projects across a portfolio of Retail, Hospitality, Commercial & Medical Office clients. To support this growth, they are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to play a pivotal role in supporting high-profile construction projects in the $200k -$5m budget range. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to project success through technical expertise, cross-functional coordination, and proactive problem-solving and thorough documentation of project activities. Based at the company’s headquarters in Petaluma, CA, the Project Engineer will travel frequently to Southern California to support the execution of regional projects.

Your new role

As the Project Engineer supporting multiple construction projects, you will

• Support the Project Manager to facilitate strong communication between Superintendents, Project Engineers & Accounting
• Train and mentor junior Project Engineers while participating in monthly team meetings
• Manage RFIs, submittals, material procurement, scheduling, and quality assurance
• Ensure timely payments, accurate project files, and adherence to contract terms
• Leverage industry software (Procore, Viewpoint, Bluebeam, PlanGrid) for efficient project tracking

What you'll need to succeed

3+ years of construction experience with a solid understanding of project management.

✅ Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently

✅ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Viewpoint, Procore

✅ Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail

✅ A team-oriented mindset with a customer-first approach
