Job Description

Production Supervisor – (2nd & 3rd Shifts)

Hours: Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed.

Position Type: Regular Full-time, Salaried (plus overtime pay).

NTN Driveshaft , a world leader in constant velocity technology for the automotive industry, is seeking a qualified Production Supervisor for our operation in Columbus, Indiana, located at 8251 International Dr. NTN has over 2000 employees in Columbus, and customer demand for our product is growing rapidly. NTN Driveshaft manufactures Constant Velocity Joints (CVJs) for all major automotive companies. These customers include Honda, Ford, Toyota, GM, Chrysler, and most other automotive OEMs.

The Production Manager will oversee and supervise the production team and is responsible for coordinating production line activities, including scheduling, task assignments, and quality control. This role requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage team members and ensure efficient workflow. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in industry concepts, practices, and procedures, leveraging experience and sound judgment to achieve production goals. The position involves handling complex tasks and requires creativity and flexibility to drive continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a group of team members in a production area.
  • Assistant in the creation and managing of manufacturing processes, inventory, and ensuring machines are operating properly
  • Hire, Train, Observe, and develop skills of assigned employees
  • Responsible for product/process quality, safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting to the Production Manager, create, improve, and manage production within the facility.
  • Complete special projects as assigned
  • Implement lean manufacturing concepts, including Kaizen, KanBan, PokeYoke, 5S, etc.
  • Maintain the highest level of safety and work with employees to identify potential hazards
  • Ensure production plans are met and improve on-time delivery performance.
  • Implement production strategies to increase operational accuracy, efficiency and quality.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing production plant policies, procedures, operations, and standardization.
  • Drives production strategies to reduce product waste.
  • Communicate with team and enforces company policies and procedures

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:

  • 1–2 years of proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with J.D. Edwards or comparable ERP software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management abilities.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed, including occasional Saturdays.
  • Strong physical stamina and mental focus. Physically, one must be able to stand for long periods, lift moderate loads, and move through a production environment with attention to safety.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills, decision-making ability, and handle stress in a fast-paced setting. Strong leadership, communication, multitasking are essential, and attention to detail for quality control and process optimization.
