Location: Houston, TX (On-site)

Industry: Advanced Manufacturing & Industrial Solutions

A leading innovator in mission-critical component manufacturing is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Procurement Planner Specialist to join their fast-paced and highly collaborative operations team. This pivotal role will help drive supply chain efficiency and production continuity within a high-performance manufacturing environment. As part of a growing business unit that supplies industries such as aerospace, energy, and defense, you’ll play a central role in ensuring that production materials are optimally sourced, stocked, and delivered on schedule.

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving, production-focused environments and enjoys managing both the strategy and execution of procurement operations. You’re organized, results-driven, and capable of independently managing vendor communications and purchasing logistics while collaborating cross-functionally. You enjoy owning the process and proactively improving it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage proactive procurement schedules aligned with demand forecasts and production timelines.
  • Analyze inventory levels, usage trends, and manufacturing schedules to identify material requirements and reorder points.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contract conditions with suppliers to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure adherence to lead times, quality expectations, and service-level agreements.
  • Generate, track, and follow through on purchase orders, ensuring timely processing and delivery.
  • Collaborate across production, logistics, and finance teams to align material needs and budgetary goals.
  • Lead root cause analysis and risk mitigation strategies for supply chain disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation within ERP systems and procurement databases.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce lead times, optimize cost structures, and increase supplier diversity.
  • Conduct market research to identify alternative suppliers and benchmark pricing.
  • Support budget development and cost analysis for procurement functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, materials planning, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms and inventory management systems (experience with SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms preferred).
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
  • Professional certification such as CPSM, CPIM, or equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiatives is strongly preferred.

What’s In It for You

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and personal days
  • Professional development and certification reimbursement
  • High visibility within a stable, growth-oriented business
  • Wellness initiatives and employee support programs
