Job Description

EMIT Learning is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. As a paraprofessional you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of students with special needs.   • Position: Special Education Paraprofessional
  • Location: Illinois
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Age Group: Elementary and Middle School
  • Total Hours Per Week: 35 hours per week
  • Duration of Contract: New School Year 2025-26
Responsibilities
  • Assist special education teachers with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Provide support to students in both inclusive classrooms and resource rooms ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Adapt and modify materials or activities as needed to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Reinforce instruction and provide assistance to students in completing assignments
  • Assist with behavior management strategies and techniques to promote a positive and supportive classroom environment
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress behavior and interactions
  • Assist with the implementation of assistive technology and other specialized equipment as necessary
Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred Should have 48 college units
  • Previous experience working with students with special needs is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Patience flexibility and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about different disabilities and instructional strategies for students with special needs
  • Ability to follow directions and carry out tasks effectively
