Ocean Cargo Manager – International Freight Forwarding

📍 Location: Charlotte, NC

🕒 Full-time | On-site

A leading global logistics and freight forwarding company is seeking an experienced Ocean Cargo Manager to oversee and lead its international ocean freight operations. This role requires deep knowledge of ocean import/export processes, regulatory compliance, and a strong ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day operations of the ocean freight department (Import & Export)
• Ensure full compliance with FMC regulations, including oversight of NRA and TRI filings
• Supervise the preparation and issuance of FCL and LCL quotes
• Optimize routing, carrier selection, and cost efficiency across ocean freight operations
• Maintain strong relationships with carriers, customs brokers, and key accounts
• Lead, train, and support a team of operations and documentation staff
• Analyze KPIs and develop strategies to improve service levels and profitability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with air freight, customs, and domestic logistics teams

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in international ocean freight forwarding (import/export)
• In-depth understanding of FMC regulations and documentation requirements
• Demonstrated experience with NRA/TRI filings and quoting FCL/LCL shipments
• Strong leadership skills with prior experience managing teams or departments
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication abilities
• Proficiency in industry software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, or similar TMS platforms)
