Job Title: M&A Director (Financial Advisory Services)

Location: Tampa, FL

Position Summary:

The M&A Director will lead acquisition initiatives both within and outside of IFP, focusing on the strategic purchase of external firms/books of business and overseeing succession plan execution for existing / retiring IFP advisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquisition Strategy: Develop and execute strategies to acquire external financial advisory firms or books of business, aligning acquisitions with the firm’s long-term growth objectives.
  • Internal Succession Planning: Collaborate with retiring IFP advisors to help purchase their books and provide a succession for their practices
  • Deal Sourcing and Origination: Identify potential acquisition targets, both within the IFP network and externally, fostering relationships with prospective sellers.
  • Financial Analysis and Valuation: Conduct thorough due diligence and financial modeling to determine the value of books and firms. Prepare detailed acquisition proposals.
  • Negotiation and Structuring: Lead deal negotiations, develop transaction structures, and draft purchase agreements, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Integration Planning: Develop post-acquisition integration strategies to ensure seamless transition of client relationships
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., legal, compliance, finance) to facilitate acquisitions and transitions.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor post-acquisition performance, ensuring retention of client assets and adherence to transition plans.
  • Market Insights: Stay informed about industry trends and competitive acquisitions to identify strategic opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in M&A within the financial services or RIA sector.
  • Proven track record of leading successful acquisitions and integration projects.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial advisory industry, particularly within the RIA and broker-dealer space.
  • Ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously and drive strategic initiatives.
