Job Description

FULL-TIME INSTRUCTOR: Language Arts

About Hopeworks

Hopeworks is a nonprofit social enterprise that uses technology, trauma-informed care, and market-based businesses to transform lives. Young adults in our program receive hard and soft skill training, career coaching, barrier reduction services (food, housing/mental health care referrals), academic support, and paid work experience in our businesses.

Over 99% of young adults (17-26) entering Hopeworks are unemployed. After completion, they earn over $44,000 annually, with a 12-month retention rate of over 90% in their jobs. That is the Hopeworks difference.

Hopeworks delivers long-term outcomes, immediate poverty reduction, and opportunity in communities that are often sidelined by structural racism and poverty.

Position Description

The primary role of the Part-Time Instructor is to cultivate a dynamic and supportive learning environment for youth in Hopeworks’ programs. This position centers on enhancing students’ academic reading skills through integrating science and social studies content, as well as improving their paragraph writing abilities with a focus on correct grammar usage. These efforts are aimed at helping students achieve their high school diplomas and boost their employment prospects.

  • Employ diverse teaching strategies such as whole group instruction, small group work, and interactive activities to address various learning needs.

  • Collaborate closely with the Program Director and contribute to all aspects of the program, including maintaining accurate student records in the Salesforce management system.
  • Participate in Trauma-Informed activities and embrace the principles associated with Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of student attendance, progress, and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or a related field, required.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is proactive and driven to exceed goals.
