Overview:
The Interior Designer plays a vital role in the Timeline Design + Build process by leading and coordinating design teams, guiding clients through design decisions, and ensuring all aspects of the design are completed before construction begins. This role involves balancing creativity with project timelines, documentation, and collaboration, setting up the Production Department for a successful project by minimizing confusion and delays.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Collaboration and Engagement:
- Work closely with clients to determine their goals, requirements, and aesthetic preferences for the space.
- Engage clients throughout the design process to resolve design elements and ensure alignment with their vision and budget.
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with clients, managing expectations and addressing concerns as needed.
2. Design Development and Coordination:
- Lead and coordinate a design team, collaborating with architects, engineers, trade partners, and builders to integrate interior design with the overall construction plan.
- Apply knowledge of space planning, building regulations, and planning processes to design functional and aesthetically pleasing interiors.
- Oversee the creation of drawings, models, images, and materials to communicate the design vision to clients and the project team.
- Ensure all design elements are consistent with project goals, schedules, and budgets.
3. Design Preparation and Presentations:
- Prepare sketches, visual aids, and models to present preliminary designs to clients for feedback and approval.
- Establish content for design presentations, ensuring that they are appropriate for the project's budget, schedule, and design objectives.
- Use REVIT to produce final design plans and ensure that all selections, materials, and furnishings are properly illustrated.
4. Project Management and Timelines:
- Develop and help manage project timelines, including internal milestones, to ensure timely completion of design deliverables.
- Collaborate with the project team to align design goals with construction timelines and budgets.
- Oversee the ordering and procurement of materials, ensuring that all design elements adhere to project specifications and timelines.
- Manage interior design projects (typical 3-6), collaborating with designers, consultants and clients to ensure seamless integration between design and construction phases.
5. Space Planning and Documentation:
- Apply expertise in space planning to ensure designs meet functional requirements and comply with building regulations.
- Oversee project documentation, ensuring that all revisions, comments, and updates are accurately reflected and communicated to the team.
- Manage all selections and input them into Fohlio, ensuring accurate documentation of materials and decisions.
6. Installation and Execution:
- Oversee the installation of design elements, including furniture, fixtures, and finishes, ensuring all design details are implemented according to plan.
- Visit the project site upon completion to ensure client satisfaction and address any concerns or feedback.
7. Industry Knowledge and Trends:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, materials, techniques, and developments in interior design.
- Regularly collaborate with trade partners and vendors to source materials and ensure the best outcomes for each project.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field required.
- Experience: At least 4 years of high-end residential interior design experience.
- Skills:
- Strong proficiency with Revit.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, planning processes, and interior construction techniques.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver compelling design presentations.
- Ability to lead as needed, collaborate with other professionals, and integrate multiple disciplines into the design process.
- Comfortable working with high net-worth clients.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and space planning skills.
