Job Title: Industrial Designer, Automotive

Quala is seeking an Industrial Designer for a 6+ month contract role working on-site in Foster City, CA. This is an opportunity to work as part of a team that is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. Sitting at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and design, our team aims to provide the next generation of mobility-as-a-service in urban environments. Responsibilities

• Develop design themes for our vehicle and hardware products from sketch, prototype, through production
• Work closely and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver completed, on time, and high-quality vehicle and hardware designs
• Create high-quality digital and physical presentation materials that communicate the design intent at any phase in a project and present design concepts to internal teams and executives
• Contribute to the evolving teamwork, design culture, and processes in the studio
• Create product designs that align with our vision and brand

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Automotive or similar design studio experience
• Mass production, concept, and one-off vehicle or similar product launch experience
• Experience managing design projects and processes from concept to production
• Ability and desire to work and communicate well with internal, cross-functional, and executive teams
• Hands-on experience and collaboration with industry vendors and suppliers
• Experience working across partner groups such as engineering, product and manufacturing
• Basic Autodesk Alias modeling skills
• Experience with autonomous driving hardware and sensors is a plus
