Frontend Developer

Waybetter Marketing is a marketing agency based in Columbia, Maryland. We are seeking a Frontend Developer to join our team at headquarters. The right candidate will have 5+ years of experience in creating highly usable web experiences and the ability to be physically present in our Maryland office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We offer a hybrid schedule, with remote Wednesdays and Fridays for all employees.

This is Something You'll Want to be a Part of:

We are a team of passionate marketers and technologists dedicated to helping colleges and universities increase their student enrollment. Our focus is exclusively on the higher education industry, and we use hyper-personalized, data-driven campaigns to achieve our goals. We tap into top marketing automation tools and our team's bright minds to deliver exceptional results for institutions of all shapes and sizes across the country.

As a Frontend Developer on our team, you'll be instrumental in building a dynamic, intuitive student engagement hub designed to drive interaction, boost enrollment, and maximize retention through a seamless and compelling user experience.

In Summary, You'll Enjoy Days of:

  • Collaborating closely with team members and stakeholders to bring webpages and digital experiences to life
  • Managing project tasks, developing front-end solutions, and supporting team members
  • Developing engaging, student-facing webpages with a mobile-first approach
  • Ensuring technical feasibility and practical implementation of UI/UX designs
  • Optimizing webpages for maximum speed, scalability, and maintainability
  • Building and maintaining highly reusable, modular code libraries to accelerate future projects
  • Conducting thorough quality assurance (QA) testing to ensure accuracy, usability, and visual fidelity across devices and browsers
  • Training and mentoring coworkers on how to adapt and extend reusable code for future projects
  • Wearing several hats, including project management, development, and technical mentorship

Skills and Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a front-end developer building dynamic, scalable webpages
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and SCSS
  • Solid understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, particularly React and jQuery
  • Deep understanding of the full web development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment)
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering pixel-perfect, accurate, and reusable code
  • Familiarity with Git version control workflows
  • Knowledge of responsive, mobile-first development principles

This Role is Perfect for You If:

  • You thrive under deadlines and consistently deliver top-tier results.
  • You’re detail-oriented with a relentless focus on execution and quality.
  • You excel at communicating complex ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You’re motivated, competitive, and driven by results, with a positive attitude to match.

Why You Want to Work at Waybetter:

We’re an established, agile company poised for continued (and considerable!) growth. We work really hard but also believe in a healthy work-life balance. Helping colleges and universities market to prospective students is a truly rewarding experience. Our clients are genuinely grateful for what we do.
