Eittem (pronounced item) is an emerging, NYC-based luxury brand crafting sculptural wooden handbags in our private studio in Chelsea. The studio combines meticulous craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology to produce timeless, sculptural pieces that are both functional and beautiful. We currently sell online through our website and in person by appointment in a suite we maintain on the same floor as our production studio. A tour of our studio including a demonstration of our production process is an integral part of our marketing and sales efforts.
Our bags include polished stainless-steel hardware that is carefully inlaid into the wood shells. The hardware is all designed in house and is a key visual and functional design element of our products. Each bag contains 17 individual metal pieces that are first machined from stainless steel; then hand polished to a mirror finish and finally hand fitted to each individual bag. This process requires significant patience and skill.
We would like to add someone to our four-person production team with a background in finishing small metal objects. The tools and hand-skills necessary are very similar to those used by a bench jeweler. Meticulous hand-skills, an eye for detail and incredibly high standards are necessary given the price point of our products. All members of our team specialize in a specific area of our production process but are also cross-trained and regularly contribute to other steps in our process.
