The Estimator is responsible for managing a wide range of functions necessary to successfully secure, obtain, bid, and price both construction and mitigation/remediation projects. This role involves ensuring accurate scopes of work, timely delivery of consistent and complete estimates, and maintaining a high quality of service in all dealings with customers, clients, and resource providers.
II. Primary Roles and Responsibilities
• Establish customer relationships for construction, mitigation, and remediation services.
• Identify, qualify, and secure opportunities to obtain and price projects.
• Educate customers on relevant processes and determine project requirements.
• Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for projects.
• Create accurate sketches and initial scopes of work for all project types.
• Deliver timely, consistent, and well-defined estimates that consider all cost factors and ensure projects are estimated for maximum profitability.
• Recognize project constraints and necessary upgrades.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to price bid items.
• Document finalized project scopes of work.
• Coordinate with external resources to ensure estimate accuracy.
• Assemble and deliver organized estimates to Project Managers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
III. Necessary Experience and Skill Set
• 2+ years' experience estimating construction, mitigation, and remediation projects.
• Expertise in Xactimate software.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, emergency-driven environment.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and technical skills.
• Team-oriented.
IV. Formal Education/Training
• High school diploma/GED required.
V. Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This is a position occasionally working in an office environment; however, frequent field visits and field management will require jobsite activities. Occasional jobsite activities may involve occasionally lifting 50 pounds independently, walking and standing for long periods of time, driving, sitting, climbing ladders, utilizing scaffolding or lifts, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying objects, working around chemicals, and working overhead.
While performing occasional jobsite duties, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions such as heat, noxious odors, etc. The noise level in the work environment and job sites may be loud. The employee will be required to occasionally wear a respirator for their safety.
VI. Normal Working Hours, Additional Working Hours and Travel Requirements
This is a full-time position working 7:30am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, 45 hours per week. This position frequently requires long hours (beyond 8 hours a day), including evenings and weekends, and on call as needed to meet the needs of our customers. Travel is required and is primarily local. However, some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
