We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Engineer II) with deep expertise in hydraulic systems and mechanical design to lead complex engineering projects from concept through production release. This position requires advanced technical skills, hands-on design experience, and the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance with rigorous industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and analyze hydraulic products, applying advanced knowledge of mechanics of materials, stress/strain analysis, and metal fabrication processes.
  • Create and refine SolidWorks 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings to support manufacturing and quality requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs under demanding operating conditions.
  • Develop and oversee testing protocols, including prototype evaluation, validation, and documentation of results.
  • Prepare and submit engineering packets for governing bodies such as the Department of Defense, ABS, and DNV.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations to provide technical expertise, resolve engineering challenges, and support product launches.
  • Provide guidance to design staff to ensure adherence to specifications, safety standards, and cost targets.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues in production and field environments, including root-cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Contribute to lean initiatives and process improvements to enhance engineering efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required); advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience with at least 3–5 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD with extensive experience in large assemblies and complex design work.
  • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, machining processes, and metal fabrication methods.
  • Strong background in material science, with emphasis on carbon steels and high-strength alloys.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform engineering calculations, FEA, and tolerance analysis to support robust product designs.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation for regulatory and certifying bodies.
  • Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist (or ability to achieve within one year).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach to complex engineering challenges.

This role offers the opportunity to lead technically demanding projects that directly impact product performance and reliability in mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled engineer who thrives on solving complex design challenges and advancing hydraulic technology.
