Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled DevOps Consultant to spearhead a strategic infrastructure migration initiative. This contract position focuses on leading the migration of enterprise Ansible automation from AWS to Azure / Ansible Automation Platform (AAP). The successful candidate will work alongside internal engineering teams to deliver a comprehensive migration with minimal operational disruption.
Project Mission
Transform existing Ansible automation infrastructure by migrating from AWS-hosted environments to Azure Ansible Automation Platform. This initiative aims to modernize our client's DevOps capabilities while maintaining operational excellence and achieving near-complete migration success by year-end 2025.
Core Responsibilities
- Migration Leadership: Drive the end-to-end migration of Ansible workloads from AWS to Azure AAP
- Technical Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive migration plans with detailed timelines and risk mitigation
- Team Collaboration: Partner with one dedicated internal engineer to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity
- Infrastructure Design: Architect Azure AAP environments optimized for existing automation workflows
- Playbook Optimization: Refactor and enhance existing Ansible playbooks for Azure AAP compatibility
- Integration Management: Maintain seamless integration with current CI/CD ecosystem including GitHub and digital.ai Release
- Quality Assurance: Implement thorough testing protocols to validate migrated automation processes
- Documentation: Create comprehensive runbooks and migration documentation for future reference
- Mentorship: Provide hands-on training to internal teams on Azure AAP best practices
Required Expertise
- DevOps Experience: 5+ years in DevOps engineering with focus on infrastructure automation
- Ansible Mastery: Deep expertise in Ansible automation, playbook development, and platform migrations
- Azure AAP Proficiency: Hands-on experience implementing and managing Azure Ansible Automation Platform
- Cloud Migration: Proven track record migrating automation workloads between major cloud providers
- AWS Knowledge: Strong understanding of AWS services and infrastructure patterns
- CI/CD Integration: Experience maintaining automation within existing CI/CD pipelines
- Scripting Skills: Proficiency in Python, YAML, Bash, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor team members
