Job Description

We are looking for Customer Care Specialists for a hybrid opportunity in South Portland, ME to support policyholders and field teams. This role is ideal for service-oriented professionals who excel in communication, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. You’ll handle inbound requests across phone, email, and chat, while ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate support for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and chat regarding products, policies, and claims.
  • Accurately process transactions such as policy changes, transfers, cancellations, and beneficiary updates.
  • Build trust and rapport with customers through active listening, clear communication, and professional service.
  • Compose and manage correspondence to confirm actions or request information, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Navigate systems to research and track customer requests, referring complex cases to the appropriate team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information and comply with company codes of conduct and ethics.
  • Stay up to date on products, services, and procedures through ongoing training and self-development.
  • Support departmental initiatives and perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of customer service or related work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across multiple channels (phone, email, chat, text).
  • Ability to handle challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic office systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
  • Experience in insurance, benefits, or financial services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to de-escalate high-emotion situations.
