Job Description

Chief Compliance Officer

Hybrid in Monsey or Brooklyn, possibility for remote
200-250k + Generous Benefits

 

We are seeking an experienced compliance leader who understands OPWDD, Medicaid, and highly regulated environments. This role requires a proactive mindset, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to confidently communicate compliance expectations across all levels of the organization. The Chief Compliance Officer will oversee all compliance efforts, ensuring the organization remains audit-ready while maintaining policies that support—not hinder—the workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and lead the compliance function, ensuring adherence to OPWDD, Medicaid, and state regulations .
  • Conduct monthly internal audits with a team of 3-4 compliance analysts to proactively identify and address issues.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for state audits , confidently communicating with auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance policies are clearly understood and properly implemented across the organization .
  • Maintain and oversee the compliance plan and annual work plan , presenting reports to executive leadership and recommending process improvements.
  • Support and collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team, VP of Care Management, and CEO to ensure compliance processes enhance operational success.
  • Monitor state policies, regulations, and legal terminology , ensuring staff understands the “why” behind compliance measures.

J ob Requirements

  • Experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or audit preparation within a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience in a large company or healthcare organization (not a small, private firm).
  • Knowledge of OPWDD, Medicaid regulations, and government compliance standards.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply regulatory manuals, policies, and legal documents.
  • Proven experience in handling internal and state audits, including direct communication with auditors .
  • Ability to create, implement, and manage compliance plans in alignment with government regulations.
  • Effective communication skills , with the ability to confidently explain complex regulations to executives, staff, and auditors.
  • Proficiency in compliance reporting tools, documentation, and internal auditing processes.
