Pomona opened its doors in 1974 and since then has continued to build a strong community with a history of spirit, pride, and tradition. Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, after 50 years of excellence, Pomona will transition into a Junior/Senior High School serving students in grades 6 through twelve. As we have in the past, Pomona students will continue to be both challenged and supported academically and as young adults.

At the High School level, we offer a wide range of Advanced Placement and Concurrent Credit courses not only in our core academic classes, but also in our exploratory and elective classes.

At the Junior High School level (6th through 8th grade), Pomona offers strong academic classes in a smaller setting, while also offering robust exploratory classes in all areas. Students in the 8th grade also have the unique opportunity of taking high school classes and earning graduation credits in some.

The Panther community supports our athletic teams and Humanities programs with a commitment to excellence. At Pomona, our students are able to EXPLORE areas of interest, ACCESS rigorous academics and learning, and APPLY this knowledge in real-world situations.

Has experience and is familiar with the operations of metalworking and/or woodworking shops. To include the skilled operation and maintenance of shop equipment, planning and ordering materials and consumables.

For metalworking, candidate should be able to demonstrate to students the safe and skilled operation of a variety of shop equipment and processes to include: welding (GMAW/GTAW/SMAW/Oxy/Acetylene), cutting (plasma, oxy/acetylene, CNC plasma, bandsaw), drilling (hand drills, drill press), grinding & sanding (hand grinders, bench grinders, wire wheels, belt sanders), general metal fabrication for industry.

For woodworking and Geometry in Construction, candidate should be able to demonstrate to students the safe and skilled operation of a variety of shop and jobsite equipment and processes to include: measuring (using tape measures, speed squares, combination squares, bevel squares), familiar with construction math (wall framing, trusses & drywall), cutting (miter saws, table saws, bandsaws, circular saws, hand saws), drilling and screwing (hand drills, impact drills, drill press), sanding (hand sanding, orbital sanders, disc and belt sander), candidate should have comfort with a blend of GiC curriculum and planning woodshop projects for 30+ students in a small shop space. The woodshop class is a co-teaching program, where students are in a geometry math class and the woodshop on an every other day basis.

Responsibilities:

Orient students to their coursework and communicate course requirements.

Employ asynchronous and synchronous tools to supplement course content.

Create and deliver live and recorded instructional sessions.

Maintain regular office hours to provide students or parents one-on-one and small group support.

Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.

Partner with special education staff to implement student's IEP?s, ALP?s and 504?s.

Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions.

Attend face-to-face meetings with students and parent/guardian, as scheduled.

Grade student work, enter grades into an online gradebook, and provide course grade.

Communicate with parents as needed.

Collaborate with other instructional staff.

Administer school-wide assessments including CSAP, ACT, and Acuity.

Conduct student/parent/teacher conferences.

Attend (virtual and physical) and actively participate in all required staff meetings and professional development.

Perform other duties as assigned.

CTE instructors without CDE license - only has CTE authorization
