NYM Construction & Development — a rapidly growing mid-sized general contracting firm based in Brooklyn — is seeking a BIM Engineer / Modeler to lead the development of our in-house BIM Division. Until now, we’ve outsourced our BIM services to third-party providers. We're now ready to bring this capability in-house and are looking for an experienced professional (approximately 5+ years in the field) who can establish, grow, and eventually lead this division from the ground up.

We work across a diverse portfolio of projects, including residential, commercial, institutional, hospital, and healthcare buildings, encompassing both ground-up construction and interior fit-outs/renovations.

Role Overview:

This is a mid-level senior position focused on both technical expertise and project leadership. You’ll be responsible for managing BIM/VDC workflows, solving complex coordination challenges, and eventually overseeing a team of BIM professionals as the department grows This is a rare opportunity for someone ambitious and driven — a chance to build and lead an entire BIM division within a fast-growing company.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Lead BIM Implementation : Set up and manage project models (directory structure, worksets, phases, shared coordinates), ensuring quality control and consistency across deliverables.

· Develop Standards & Processes : Create and maintain BIM/VDC standards, templates, execution plans (BEPs), and best practices tailored to various project types and client needs.

· Project Coordination & Clash Detection : Oversee interdisciplinary model coordination, clash detection, and resolution; facilitate coordination meetings and stakeholder communication.

· Client & Team Leadership : Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and contractors; manage and mentor VDC team members, including hiring and training of junior staff.

· Field Integration & Visualization : Coordinate with field teams to track construction progress; develop 3D/4D visualizations, dashboards, and visual progress tracking tools.

· Innovation & Technology : Research and implement emerging BIM technologies, including LiDAR integration, software troubleshooting, and workflow automation.

· On-Site Presence & Support : Collaborate directly with project teams on-site to provide BIM guidance, technical support, and real-time model updates.

· Proposals & Business Development : Support marketing, proposal writing, and BIM/VDC strategy for project pursuits.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or AEC-related discipline preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in architecture/engineering/construction and BIM/VDC. At least 1 year of managerial or team leadership experience.

Required Skills

• Advanced expertise in the generation and development of BIM models, drawings, and project management applications within Revit, BIM360, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with one or more VDC tools such as: Bentley Open Buildings, Solibri, GIS, and others.
• Specialized expertise in one or more aspects of VDC.
• Expertise in understanding and interpreting an array of design, construction, and fabrication documents for major disciplines. In-depth understanding of multiple disciplines.

Required Software Skills:

• Revit / Dynamo
• Navisworks / Syncro
• Bentley OpenBuildings / Microstation
• 3D Laser Scanning (LiDAR, SLAM, Drone)
• Autodesk BIM360 or Construction Cloud
• Optional: Rhino, Grasshopper, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Primavera, Maximo

Estimated Compensation:

· $90,000 - $125,000/ Annum
